Stoel Rives LLP has an immediate opening for an Inclusion Manager located in either our Boise, Portland, Sacramento, San Diego, or Seattle offices. This firm-wide position provides strategic and operational support for the firm’s inclusion-focused initiatives and programs. This position works closely with attorneys of all levels, firm leadership, and business professionals to provide strategic guidance and hands-on coordination, including:

  • Strategic Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement strategies that promote inclusion and equal opportunities for all, ensuring such strategies are aligned with legal requirements and the firm’s overall business objectives.
  • Collaboration and Partnership: Work closely with firm leaders, the Inclusion Committee, Human Resources, and other stakeholders to ensure inclusive practices are integrated into all aspects of the organization.
  • Training and Development: Develop and facilitate training programs and resources that build awareness and practical skills to support a culture of inclusion.
  • Employee Engagement: Foster a culture of inclusion among staff, interns/summer associates, lawyers, and business professionals.
  • Talent Management: Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and Professional Development to attract and retain individuals whose wide-ranging life experiences, perspectives, and talents strengthen the firm’s culture and enhance the quality of service provided to clients.
  • Administrative Support:  Provide high-level and day-to-day administrative coordination for inclusion initiatives, including managing project timelines, tracking key metrics, preparing materials, and supporting events and meetings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

1.       Inclusion Leadership

a) Provide strategic and advisory support for firmwide and local inclusion efforts, including cultural celebrations, community sponsorships, office-level initiatives, and training programs.

b) Collaborate with the Inclusion Committee and Inclusion Cabinet to lead the annual budgeting process, including reviewing and approving requests from attorneys, business professionals, and affinity groups.

c) Lead the coordination and implementation of partnerships and programs with legal industry and community organizations that align with the firm’s inclusion goals.

d) Design and deliver firmwide training and educational programs that promote inclusion, belonging, and cultural competency across the firm.

e) Support or lead client-facing inclusion initiatives in collaboration with business development, as appropriate.

f) Serve as a strategic connector between Talent Acquisition, Professional Development, and the Inclusion Committee by identifying synergies, addressing gaps, and enhancing efforts to retain and advance attorneys and business professionals.

g) Establish and maintain strong relationships with external organizations and professional associations focused on advancing inclusion in the legal industry.

 

2.       Committee Support

a) Provide strategic and subject matter support to the Inclusion Committee Chair and Vice Chair, including advising on committee strategy, policies, sponsorships, and programming, setting budget priorities, and tracking ROI of firmwide inclusion initiatives.

b) Liaise among the Inclusion Committee, Coaching and Mentoring Committee, Culture Committee, Associates Committee, and Pro Bono Committee to align priorities, bridge gaps, and maximize impact across the firm’s inclusion efforts.

c)  Provide administrative support to inclusion-related committees and initiatives, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and materials, taking notes, tracking deadlines, and coordinating follow-up actions.

Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES

Must demonstrate initiative, creative and strategic thinking, leadership and attention to detail on all issues related to talent development and inclusion.  Must be able to work with only general direction and have exceptional project management skills to organize and maintain a significant number of projects with multiple priorities simultaneously. Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills and be able to facilitate individual and group meetings and make oral presentations. Must be able to work effectively with highly educated individuals with strong opinions and varying priorities and goals.  Must have an approachable and positive demeanor and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of firm personnel by exercising diplomacy, tact, and candor.  Must also have strong judgment and be able to maintain confidential and sensitive information.

 

Physical and Mental Capabilities

Must be able to operate a computer, calculator, and telephone.  Must manage multiple projects with multiple variables and have the ability to organize and manage independent projects simultaneously.  Must be able to read, interpret, and understand written and verbal information, present ideas effectively, sometimes under pressure, and maintain stable performance, sometimes under time constraints or opposition.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years’ experience designing and implementing strategic training and development or inclusion programs in a large professional services environment, preferably in a law firm.  Must possess a thorough knowledge of lawyer development and inclusion strategies and creatively advance the use of cutting-edge techniques and technology to enhance inclusion efforts.  Juris doctorate in lieu of experience accepted on a 1:1 basis.
NORMAL WORK HOURS

This position is salaried and exempt from the FLSA.  Normal work hours are 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday. This is a hybrid position, with the expectation that the Manager is in the office at least three days/week. Some domestic travel is expected.

The pay range for this position is $86,000 – $167,000; however, the base compensation presented to a candidate may vary based on skills and overall experience. This salary range is based on market location.
