PDC Core Competency Model
In November of 2014, the PDC adopted the first competency model developed specifically for legal professional development practitioners. The comprehensive model covers the diverse areas that now fall within legal professional development and offers a road map for legal PD practitioners for their own professional development and continuous improvement. It is designed to serve as a resource for Legal PD professionals interested in developing proficiency within each competency, from professionals just beginning their Legal PD careers to those at the more senior level.
The Model includes four core competency areas:
- Professionalism
- Legal industry knowledge and functional expertise
- Performance management and professional development
- Leadership management and organizational development.
With this competency model, legal PD practitioners can learn how they can contribute significantly to their organizations’ success in a meaningful way. Designed to serve as a resource for legal PD professionals interested in developing proficiency within each competency, the model can be a valuable resource for all professionals — from those just beginning their legal PD careers to those at the executive level.
