Michael Bloom
Michael has been curating spaces for students and professionals to make mistakes—and learn from them—since 2009.
Michael is the founder and CEO of Praktio, which provides interactive, practical training for law firms. Through Praktio, Michael and the team design and deliver e-learning and hands-on workshops for junior associates, summer associates, and staff to develop practical skills—like drafting contracts and writing useful emails. This training combines best practices from learning science with real-world documents and realistic professional contexts, so learners develop skills and knowledge that translate to practice.
Michael and the Praktio team work with PD departments to build and implement practical skills programming, including:
- On-demand, interactive e-learning for first-year transactional and litigation associates, summer associates, and staff
- Hands-on workshops led by experienced teachers and practitioners covering transactional, litigation, and professional skills
- Blended programs that pair self-paced e-learning with live instruction
- Training design grounded in learning science and instructional design
- Embedding AI with training to teach substantive and AI skills in realistic context
Before founding Praktio, Michael was a clinical professor at the University of Michigan Law School, where he was the founding director of the Transactional Lab & Clinic. He previously co-founded and directed the Corporate Lab Transactional Clinic at the University of Chicago Law School. He also practiced at Sidley Austin, focusing on M&A and technology transactions. He is the co-author of two books on contracts from a transactional perspective, both published by Aspen. Michael earned his J.D. from Yale Law School and his B.A. “with highest distinction” from the University of Michigan.
