Matthew Galando, Secretary-Treasurer
As a Director of Professional Development at the global law firm K&L Gates LLP, Matt Galando collaborates with key stakeholders to develop L&D and talent retention strategy. Matt plays a significant role in the firm’s signature associate leadership events and is considered as a "go-to" creative resource among his colleagues. He designs and implements programs on a local and global scale on various topics including business development, technology, communication and executive presence, as well as substantive legal training curricula. Matt was instrumental in the assessment and implementation of the K&L Gates HUB (an award winning online digital destination that provides timely content on critical issues at the intersection of business and law) as well as the creation of internal videos, voice-over recordings and high-impact communications. Matt has led the implementation of several new cross-practice multi-stage experiential programs at K&L Gates with a focus on associates’ skill development and deepening connections with fellow associates, partners and firm leaders.
In addition to learning & professional development strategy and delivery, Matt has managed the firm’s CLE accreditations, applications and tracking in addition to advising on global continuing education requirements. Matt was a member of the PDC’s 2019 Conference Committee and sits on the Practising Law Institute’s Customer Advisory Council.
Matt earned his B.A. in Political Science from Saint Vincent College and an M.B.A. from Seton Hill University. Matt also continues to serve in nonprofit leadership roles , currently as a Trustee of Seton Hill University and Secretary of the Board of Directors at Pittsburgh’s City Theatre Company. Matt is also the past-President of the Board of the Edgewood Symphony Orchestra.
