The Manager of Professional Development will work with a Manager of Professional Development, Director of Professional Development, and various firm leaders to design and implement innovative programs and approaches to training and developing attorneys in the legal skills specific to each of the practice groups at the Firm. The role will entail regular collaboration with practice and department leadership to implement an engaging and effective legal skills curriculum, ranging from in-person workshops to virtual courses from both internal and external content providers. The Manager of Professional Development will maintain communication channels among attorney audiences regarding training offerings and expectations.

Responsibilities (excerpt, see posting for complete description)
Oversees firmwide legal skills training across all three Law Departments.
Collaborates with Practice Group and Department leadership to develop and implement legal skills curriculum tailored to each practice area and tenure of the attorneys practicing in that area, g. a first-year litigation associates series or a transactions practice Tier II curriculum.

Designs, manages, and implements workshop style legal skills training programs designed to develop skills in motion practice, depositions, negotiations, trial advocacy, expert witnesses, and other areas.

Develops communications designed to increase awareness of the legal skills training programs on offer, how to access them, and how to share ideas for improvement.

Develops methods and tools for tracking and communicating attorneys’ progress through the legal skills curriculum.

Oversees the team executing on the delivery of legal skills curriculum, including a Professional Development Specialist and Professional Development Coordinator.

Maintains some proficiency with the Learning Management System used to administer, track, and report on the delivery of legal skill training programs.

Monitors trends in professional development, including with regard to development-related technologies and tools, in order to propose new and innovative solutions that improve the attorney experience.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree required, JD preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of legal practice in a large law firm and/or experience working in professional development or training required, preferably in a law firm or professional services firm.
